If you are new to Google Adwords marketing, then you’ll want to read the money and time saving tips we’ve got for you. Specifically we’ll discuss doing keyword research properly, setting up your campaign correctly and lastly tracking your results and optimizing them over time. After reading this article, you should be able to improve the results you are getting with Google Adwords and get more clicks for less money.
For Google, relevance is everything and it should go without saying that the keywords you are bidding on in your campaign are relevant to what you are offering. When deciding how often to display your ads and what the minimum bid you pay will be, Google will check to make sure that your ad matches up with the keyword you are bidding on and the page where you send the searcher matches up with both. This can sound daunting but really it all comes down to the keyword research you do in the beginning. Take the time to find as many relevant keywords as possible and then make sure that both your ad copy and landing pages are relevant to those keywords. Once you have the keywords you want, the next step will be to properly structure your campaign.
When structuring your Google Adwords campaign, take the time to create tightly themed ad groups that contain keywords with similar meanings. For example, if you were selling blue widgets and red gadgets then you would want to have one ad group for your blue widgets and one ad group for your red gadgets. Each ad group would only contain keywords related to those themes. If you can structure your ad groups in this way and ensure that they point to relevant pages on your site, then you should see low bid prices from Google for your keywords.
After your campaign is running and you are receiving clicks and (hopefully) conversions, then you will want to track your results carefully. Oftentimes, the difference between a successful profitable campaign or an unsuccessful one can be found in pausing keywords that lose money while letting the winning keywords run. There are many tools available on the market for tracking your Google Adwords campaign including Google’s own conversion pixel. The conversion pixel is a little piece of code that is placed on the goal page for your campaign (i.e., the thank you page of an order form).
In closing, it should go without saying that Google Adwords is the largest advertising medium on the planet and is a must for anyone considering advertising their business online. If you can keep in mind the importance of solid keyword research, setting up and organizing your campaign properly and lastly, tracking your results you should be able to get very good results.
