Do you know any good freeware programs for making videos?

I run a business where I make marketing videos and when I started it I was using Windows Movie Maker, but I'm starting to realize how much WMM can limit your creativity. I don't have any startup capital so I can't really go buy anything. Do you know any good freeware programs for making slideshow-type advertising trailers?

Now, I don't have any experience with movie-making, so I don't know if VideoSpin (the given answer on the question) will work for you.
I once found a website listing freeware alternatives to popular programs. I've been looking for it for the last few minutes, but I haven't found it. Maybe I'll remember later.

Personally, I don't like downloading stuff from the 'net, not even non-threatening-looking stuff, but it's just a little paranoia on my side.
