Why are WACOM tablets so expensive?

I opened my tablet pc to upgrade the RAM, it turns out that the WACOM module is nothing more than a simple grid board, (no resistors, capacitors or anything else) with a small controller board. The circuit design is very simple when compared to other cheaper devices. Why is it so expensive at 00 for a large board, when a much more complex PC motherboard costs as little as ? If they got their heads out of the clouds, they could easily implement this technology, given the low cost of materials, in most TVs laptops and desktop lcds creating a bigger market for their product aside from today's exclusive niche market.
